Choosing a Solar Hot Water System
Customers are much more aware of wasting energy these days. Probably the single most cost efficient improvement a homeowner can make is solar hot water. It will pay for itself quickly and then you can enjoy FREE hot water for another 20 years!
FIRST, your choice should begin with an appropriately sized tank. Allow 15-18 gals of tank size for each family member.
SECOND, ideally, the collector should be mounted on an unshaded roof facing within a 30° angle east or west of due south. But, almost any situation can be accommodated .
THIRD, our Pacemaker II is the most efficient direct system available for the “Sunbelt” and “South” regions. If you live further north larger collectors are necessary.
Collector size is based on the tank size you need. Roughly, 40-50 gal = 2 people; 50-80 gal = up to 5 people. Then see the table to estimate collector size needed to match the tank size by region | ||||||||
